4. National Year of Reading
Attachment: Minutes 02.06.2008.doc
NYR is having a campaign about the importance of reading aloud to children, which they're calling 'Telling Tales'.  As part of this, they're holding a competition to find the best 'storyteller' in the country, and encouraging people to download 2 minute pieces of film to the NYR website of themselves reading a story.  They've also picked 10 places in the UK to highlight this through a media and filming event - they'll set up a 'storytelling chair' in a public place and invite people to read.  Plymouth is one of these places and we've been given a tentative date and time for filming of the morning of Friday 18 July, but not a venue as yet.  I'll pass on more details as I get them, but please think about whether you're aware of anyone who does a great job of reading stories aloud and really bringing them to life.  Also, about whether you could come down and support the event on the morning.  Again, please see NYR website for more details (link from home page).
