We are pleased to announce the commencement of the CST
seminar series for 2009/2010. This year we have joined with the Centre for
Transport and Society at the University of the West of England, Bristol,
to stage a unique series of high profile seminars designed to highlight the role
of transport in helping the South West region out of the current economic
downturn. The first seminar in the Moving the Region Forward series will be
delivered on Friday 2 October by President of the Intelligent Transport Society
and former Transport Minister Steven Norris. The title of his seminar is Working
on the Pause: the 21st Century Office. His seminar will be held at the Frenchay
campus of the University of the West of England.
All are warmly invited to attend - please let us
know if you intend to join us by registering with Gary Wickens at
cst@plymouth.ac.uk
This seminar, as well as the following 11 in the series,
will not only provide a stimulating discussion on the transport/ technology
interface, but will also provide an excellent opportunity for networking with
key stakeholders from the business, local and regional government, academic and
wider public sectors. See the attached flyer for more details, or visit
www.ssb.plymouth.ac.uk/cst
The Moving the Region Forward seminar series is supported
by the Universities of Plymouth and the West of England, and also Plymouth City
Council and the South West Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership. We
look forward to welcoming you to Bristol and also to Plymouth for future
seminars in the series. Professor Jon Shaw, Centre for Sustainable Transport,

I am delighted to attach our invitation to you to attend

get the programme right with top people in the world of fuel poverty attending
and coming to Plymouth to update us all.
Never has fuel poverty been higher on the agenda. With
escalating fuel prices coupled with the present economic gloom and the real
possibility of swine flu hitting many of us, the need to heat our homes and have
more hot water to keep the germs away, will be essential. Come and learn what
you can do to make things better for those most in need of advice and help.
We attach a conference brochure which includes the
programme and an electronic booking form for you to use and send back to us. If
you prefer to have a printed version of the booking form to complete and post
back to us just ask. Jane Guy
